UI Design Foundations
Design interfaces that are usable, accessible and ready for developers to build.
UI Design Foundations teaches layout, type scales, colour systems, components and prototyping. You will build a small product interface from wireframe to interactive prototype.
The course focuses on handover as much as on visuals: naming, tokens, states and documentation that engineers can build from without guessing.
What you will be able to do
- Build layouts on a consistent spacing and type scale
- Create reusable components, states and design tokens
- Prototype and hand off work developers can build
Course modules
First 2 modules free to read
In this module we work through interface fundamentals and layout step by step, using the same files and briefs our studio uses on live client work.
You will follow a guided walkthrough, then complete a short practical exercise. Each exercise is reviewed against a checklist so you can see exactly where your work is strong and where it needs another pass.
By the end of the module you should be able to apply interface fundamentals and layout confidently without following along, and explain the decisions you made to a client or a colleague.
